The Himamaylan Water District joins the national observance of the 18 Day Campaign Campaign to End Violence Against Women. The 18-day campaign starts November 25, 2016 and ends December 12, 2016.
As a kick-off activity for this event, the Water District posted tarpaulin streamers of the said observance in front of the main building last November 25. Then on November 30, 2016, HWD, together with the Kabankalan City Water District conducted an Orientation Seminar on Anti-Violence Against Women and Children which was attended by the Board of Directors, officials and regular employees of HWD and KCWD. The orientation seminar was a whole day event held at Jac’s Foodhaus, Kabankalan City. Resource speakers for the event were Mrs. Chona P. Tamang from Dept. of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), SPO1 Connie C. Diaz of the Women & Children Protection Desk, Philippine National Police (PNP) and Pastor Silmer B. Escobin of Himamaylan Baptist Church.
Himamaylan Water District then conducted an in-house orientation on VAW for it’s Job Order workers. GM Joel Gellecanao, DM Razel Mae Detablan and DM Lowell A. Grey were the resource speakers for this 4-hour activity held at HWD Office. On December 5, 2016, right after the flag ceremony, a signature campaign to show support for the slogan “Enough is ENOUGH” was made. HWD officers, regular employees and job order workers affix their signatures to the tarpaulin streamer with the said slogan.
